Lapists United is set up to omit auto-pruning of threads. This means no post is going to be deleted or hidden automatically by the system. I have also decided that the Admins will not prune posts manually for the time being. Thread moderation is another matter.

Regarding Necro-Threading, LU is not set up to automatically lock threads after a predetermined period of inactivity. This means that threads are available for new posts even if the last post is months or years old. It is not only likely, but almost certain that a new member will join us and have something to contribute to a given thread- or maybe a question.

If a topic arises that belongs in its own thread, an Admin will move relevant posts to a new thread. But I've seen forum sites with a plethora of forums, each with myriad categories, and seemingly endless topics therein. This is due largely to the avoidance of necro-threading. With so many threads out there, it's difficult-to-impossible to find the right one. Given enough time, there could be hundreds with almost identical conversations, separated only by time.

Admins may still lock threads at their discretion, or even by request. But for the time being, these threads -- like Lapists -- are always there for those who need them.

This is the policy of Lapists United.
